Noosphere by Kiminjo Noosphere by Kiminjo
Art & Writing late 2007

This came together without much planning (thus the bizarre composition). It began with experimental contours and shapes, then I filled in the details and themes began to emerge.

"Noosphere" was an idea set forth by Teilhard de Chardin, having to do with a kind of evolutionarily emerging body of the Earth, transcending the physiosphere, biosphere, etc. It is being created and solidified by humans with our powers of technology and consciousness that are enveloping the planet. The idea came up about half way through the drawing, and it helped me to refine the direction in which it was growing until completion.

Nice - this has a good sense of depth and the composition is well structured.

Have you ever seen a short film called Ace of Light? The last time I checked you could find it on youtube, however the digital graininess did the visuals no justice. It is, however, available on a compilation video called Acidburn Flastback Tabu. Judging by your style, I think you would like it.

I like the alien and aquatic look it has. I mostly like what you did with the earth.

The earthly domain is stransformed, a new holon emerges from the holarchy, organic and boundless, we see the luminous fabric of mind weaving through the material universe. Matter explodes, limitations are transcended, but to what design does this noosphere speak? What is it's content? Is this vision, as your AG quote, a reflection of the nature of mind? What is on this mind? What is in this mirror? Is it a flash of the possibilities and flow of emergence- mind, empty, open, and awake?

So pleased to see more from you. I anxiously await your creations and your thoughts on them.

Thanks for sharing your gifts and provoking us all to dig deeper.

Oh yeah I know about that. That's why we are. Right? To shape things? Organize?

I keep tying myself into knots while contemplating your questions. Generally, what partially energized the process of creating this was a desire to manifest my highest visions of the human endeavor, and a delight in seeing them manifest differently than I anticipated. It seems some kind of future. Yet I feel it may fundamentally just be dramatized aspects of ourselves that are still hidden to most of us, yet are becoming clearer as we - I - grow. Also, our complex, intimate relationship with the earth, explored here somewhat, is coming to the fore in my ideas of my next large drawing(s).
Thank you as always for your inspiration and wondrous ideas (and your Wilber vocab made my spine tingle a bit).

very nice again...I fly in it :) but I think the colours would come greater, if the black was this part down in the middle
Kiminjo Featured By Owner Jan 25, 2008
I agree, and part of it is the huge difficulty of photographing this medium in decent lighting. The black paper didn't come out as dark as it can in better lighting, and the really black part on the bottom is actually an indigo blue pencil that pushes the dark even darker.

ah intersting :)
